Hitting the Road

Well, the blogging is a little anemic yesterday and today.  Sorry about that.

Yesterday I ran 15 miles.  Which meant after that, my brain did not function well enough to make complete sentences.  And I was in bed at 7:50 p.m. So, no bloggity-blog.  The good news is, the 15 miles did not feel as bad as last week.  The bad news is, there are 18 waiting for me next week.  OY. FREAKING. VEY.

Today when the kids get out of school I have to drive  6.5 hours to Philadelphia.  Speaking of OY. FREAKING. VEY.  I kept all of the kids’ specialists in Philly and DE when we moved, thinking it would be no big deal to drive up twice a year.  And now it is time to drive up.  It seems like kind of a big deal, now.  Tomorrow WildGirl sees her ocularist (the guy who makes her prosthetic eye.. did you notice the size discrepancy in the picture where she cut her locs?  She needs an enlargement, big time.)  And then she sees her orthopedist.  (She has a congenital hip deformity and a leg length discrepancy.)  Then we will drive 6.5 hours home.  Oh, I can’t wait!

I talked to the woman from Terra Verde  (in Orlando, for our vacation!!) today.. she is putting some stuff together for us!! It’s real!! It’s happening!!  Start looking for airfare!!  (BTW, Southwest is having a BIG sale right now… if you book, plan to come in on Friday 3/5 and leave on Monday 3/8.. if you can get spousal clearance for that long!)  Also check Allegiant Air, JetBlue, and AirTran.  And share your deals in the comments section!  If you want to take an early flight in on 3/5… it’s okay (even though check-in at Terra Verde is later in the day).  I will rent one house starting on 3/4-3/7.. this will help accommodate a “preparation crew”.. and also will make it so that if some folks need to leave on Sunday, we won’t have to pay for a house that we’re not using..

OK! I’m off to the post office.. because I’ve got to send the lotions & a package to Tudu.. otherwise if something tragic happens, you might never get them.. :-( (so fatalistic!)

I don’t know if I’ll have time to blog from the road.. otherwise, talk to you WEDS!  xoxo

  • I have stayed at Terra Verde and it is a very nice community. You will not be disappointed unless the owner forgets to pay the gas bill. Seriously, happened to us and we couldn’t shower the first day but they gave us a free day to make up for it.

I am willing to come early and stay late to help (read escape my demanding beasts).

  • i hope it isnt too personal ( like we dont ask about every detail concerning every aspect of you life) does your daughter by any chance have perthes disease? several things you have mentioned concerning her treatment sounds painfully familar.
but either way… safe travels and save yourself a bit of that loition for some aromatherapy later on. i dont envy you with all of that car time ahead of you.

LOL, don’t worry Heidi, on the (rare) occasion that things are too personal, I tell folks. No, she has Goldenhar Syndrome. But then she just has a couple of extra things thrown in (the hip & leg) for good measure. She’s “lucky” actually, in that she has much lesser form of Goldenhar than most kids.

We survived the car ride. I only had to threaten to strap WildGirl to the roof rack 879 times.

      • well it sounds like you arrived home just in time, i do believe 900 threats is the limit and then you have to follow through with it.

  • I’m starting to look at flights!! And, I may come early and stay late too! (: I’d love to help out. I LOVE to plan parties and be a ‘hostess’ so let me know if you need/want anything.

Maybe it would be cool if people sent you some specific topics they’d like to chat with other moms about and then if you knew a mom who would do a good job of facilitating each particular topic we could have ‘break out groups’ led by those moms?

I’m all for just ‘hanging out and chatting.’ No grand schedule needed here. I’m easy. :) If there is a massage school in the area those students need lots of hours to get their license- they might enjoy coming to one place to get several hours in.

I’d be happy to help brainstorm how the meals should come together too.

    Super excited. Let’s chat!
