AngryBoy Update

There really are so many things I am behind on with my posting, but I know one thing everyone always wants to know about is the status of AngryBoy.

It’s a hard thing to update on.  Partly because I don’t keep in touch with him that much.  Partly because I know it makes my husband upset when I put very private stuff out there in the blogosphere, and I try to respect that.  And partly because.. well, there’s not much news.

He’s still in his residential facility.  He’s still very, very troubled.  I love the staff there, I love his therapist.  I think it’s a totally excellent place.  I think it’s the perfect place for him to be.  I think they are great at saying “bring it on.. show us your worst, we can take it, we are not scared, not intimidated, WHATEVER you can dish out, we are READY for.”  And they are.  And when he unleashes a new behavior, they don’t react with shock and dismay and horror, they just go, ok, well, that was messy, now clean it up, or, hmm, that was destructive, now fix it.

I call him maybe once a week (we’re allowed to call him as often as we want to).  Sometimes he talks to me and sometimes he refuses.  Sometimes he asks to talk to me and then won’t come to the phone.  Sometimes he’ll come to the phone and then throw it across the room.  Whatever.  I also “see” him when we skype during our weekly therapy session.  Sometimes he refuses to come talk to us, then hears that one of his siblings is there, and agrees to come.  Sometimes he is surly as can be.  Sometimes he is fine.  Last week he talked nonstop for a solid 10 minutes until I finally interrupted him and was like DUDE.  ENOUGH.

Medicaid will review his case at the end of the month.  Anyone with any sense would recognize that he needs to stay where he is.  Hopefully they will too.
